Opportunity

The Healthcare Analyst analyzes and interprets healthcare data to enable healthcare organisations to make better decisions that improve the quality and efficiency of care for patients. The Health Analyst will work as part of the Data Science team, independently scoping internal and external projects, designing and executing statistical analyses, exploring and evaluating new datasets, and developing new metrics and algorithms. This role is a UK-based role analysing UK healthcare data.

About the role

A Healthcare Analyst works on projects in collaboration with other team members while continuously developing technical expertise and knowledge of core healthcare datasets.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyze large patient-level datasets to inform healthcare organisations on the quality and efficiency of their services
  • Provide expert analytical advice to customers and internal teams
  • Develop high-quality outputs for customers including reports, dashboards, algorithms and presentations
  • Develop expert knowledge of the core datasets and analytical methods used within the business
  • Contribute to the development and interpretation of analytical methodologies
  • Research and develop statistical models for a range of adverse clinical outcomes such as mortality
  • Assess new datasets or propositions for potential actionable insights for customers
  • Build relationships internally and externally, collaborating on cross-team projects with NHS customers including clinicians
  • Develop strong domain knowledge in healthcare
  • Develop analytical skills and proficiency in programming languages such as SQL and R, as well as visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI
  • Uphold the standards of the Data Science team by contributing to the quality assurance of outputs
  • Represent the Data Science team in internal and external meetings, presenting project work or providing analytical advice
  • Collaborate with teams across the wider business within the EMEA region

About you – Essential

  • Experience working in an analytical role in the healthcare industry
  • Understanding of the workings and structure of the NHS
  • Experience working with healthcare datasets (e.g. HES, SUS, Primary Care data)
  • Analytically minded, logical and precise with excellent attention to detail
  • Willing to work in a highly collaborative team, learn from others and share knowledge
  • Ability to communicate ideas and findings clearly, whether speaking, writing or presenting
  • Flexible to work on different types of projects, often simultaneously
  • Motivated to continuously learn and take on new challenges
  • Honest and reliable, taking responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work
  • Ability to rapidly learn new software and technologies
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience using data visualization software (Power BI, Tableau)
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in developing new solutions

  • Mandatory: Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., mathematics, statistics, epidemiology, economics) or a scientific discipline with demonstrated statistical skills

  • MSc in a quantitative discipline
