Job summary

Spectrum Community Health CIC is hiring a Health and Social Care Worker Apprentice for HMP Northumberland. You will support substance misuse monitoring, health observations, and clinics such as phlebotomy and ECG under a qualified nurse or practitioner.

NVQ2/GCSE with willingness to study for Level 3, strong communication and teamwork skills, and commitment to patient care are essential. NHS pension, flexible working, and extensive learning opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest and desire to work in Secure Services within Specialism
• Vocational qualification at level 2 or equivalent (e.g. GCSE 9-4)
• Prepared to study and complete Level 3 qualification
• Understanding of basic health care issues
• Computer literate and able to use MS Office programmes
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Good understanding of confidentiality
• Experience in a multi-disciplinary team setting
• Holds Health Care certificate or working towards this (e.g. Care Course)
• Knowledge or experience of working within a prison or secure environment setting
• Good patient assessment skills

Responsibilities

• Substance Misuse monitoring and reception screening
• Provide agreed care packages and health observations
• Assist clinics such as Phlebotomy, ECG and NHS health checks
• Promote health and wellbeing and health promotion
• Work under supervision of a nurse/practitioner
