The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to lead health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives for a major project. The role exists due to expansion and the need for strong leadership in safety and sustainability. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping best practices, driving compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Your duties and responsibilities will be
  • Provide leadership in health, safety, and sustainability matters across the project.
  • Advise and support managers and supervisors in fulfilling their health and safety responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory duties and internal procedures.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and surveillance to maintain high safety standards.
  • Lead and oversee accident/incident investigations and implement lessons learned.
  • Manage health and safety statistics, identify trends, and develop improvement plans.
  • Prepare and review health and safety documentation, including plans and method statements.
  • Organise and oversee induction processes and safety campaigns.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide reports as required.
  • Stop work if health and safety standards are compromised.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
  • Proven experience in health and safety leadership within a complex project environment.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to manage audits, investigations, and reporting effectively.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
It's great if you also have the following
  • Experience with collaborative working and supply chain engagement.
  • Familiarity with health and safety management systems and competency platforms.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CSCS card system).
  • Knowledge of contract and procedural compliance.
