Job summary

Sizewell C Limited is offering a Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) Apprentice role within the Civil Works Alliance. You will work alongside safety professionals to uphold high standards across Sizewell C sites, supporting inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations while gaining practical HSW expertise over a typical 24-month program.

  • GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent, are required.

Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) Apprentice

Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) Apprentice Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C

As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.This role will be within theEnabling and Earthwork Section.

What will you do?

As an HSW Apprentice, you'll work closely with project teams and safety professionals to help maintain high standards of health, safety and wellbeing across our sites.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Support site inspections, audits and safety tours
  • Assist with risk assessments and hazard identification
  • Help investigate incidents, near misses and accidents
  • Prepare reports and maintain safety records
  • Support the delivery of site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings
  • Promote positive health, safety and wellbeing behaviours
  • Assist with behavioural safety initiatives and campaigns
  • Help monitor and analyse health, safety and environmental performance data
  • Support the development and review of safety procedures and documentation
  • Build relationships with project teams, contractors and stakeholders

Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll develop practical skills including:

  • Conducting workplace inspections and monitoring activities
  • Identifying hazards and supporting risk control measures
  • Supporting incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collecting, analysing and reporting safety performance data
  • Delivering engaging presentations, inductions and toolbox talks
  • Applying Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems
  • Providing advice on safe working practices and company procedures
  • Managing and maintaining accurate safety documentation

Apprenticeship Standard: Safety, Health and Environment Technician (ST0550)

Duration: Typically 24 months

Professional Recognition: Successful completion can lead to eligibility for TechIOSH membership with IOSH.
