Job summary

West Dean College is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead the development and implementation of health, safety, and fire safety across our estate. You will provide expert guidance, oversee risk assessments and audits, and promote a proactive safety culture across staff, students, and visitors.

The role requires a NEBOSH National Diploma and IOSH membership, with experience across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and IOSH graduate membership are essential.
• Experience implementing health and safety across multiple locations.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills to engage and influence colleagues at all levels.
• Ability to work independently while fostering effective relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of health, safety, and fire safety across the estate.
• Provide expert advice and practical guidance to colleagues ensuring compliance with legislation.
• Oversee risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
• Promote a positive safety culture and embed health and safety into everyday practices.
• Monitor emerging risks and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain and enhance the Safety Management System, policies, and procedures.
• Coordinate health and safety training including e-learning options.
• Lead investigations of accidents and incidents including RIDDOR reporting.
