Job summary

Samworth Brothers is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to lead HSE at our UK site, driving a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with environmental permits and ISO 14001 standards.

You will partner with site leaders, Engineering, Operations and People teams to reduce risks, coach teams, and deliver continuous improvement across health, safety and environmental programs.

Qualifications

• Significant HSE experience in manufacturing, ideally food FMCG.
• NEBOSH Diploma (or Level 6) in Health & Safety.
• IOSH Membership, CMIIOSH Chartered preferred.
• Proven experience developing and implementing HSE management systems.
• Strong track record of driving safety culture and behavioural change.
• Experience managing audits, inspections and regulatory compliance.
• Expertise in incident investigation and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Leading the site's Health, Safety and Environmental strategy and management systems.
• Driving a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Coaching and supporting managers and teams to fulfil their HSE responsibilities.
• Monitoring HSE performance, identifying trends and implementing improvement plans.
• Leading incident investigations and ensuring effective corrective actions.
• Maintaining compliance with environmental permits and ISO 14001 standards.
• Managing internal and external audits, inspections and customer requirements.
• Acting as the key contact for regulators, enforcement agencies, customers and emergency services on HSE matters.

About The Role

As a Health & Safety Manager, you help keep colleagues safe every day. You lead health and safety activity across your site or area, making sure systems are effective, risks are controlled and standards are followed. You work closely with site leaders, Engineering, Operations and People teams to build a strong safety culture. You are a visible leader who supports others, challenges when needed and helps teams do the right thing.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading the site's Health, Safety and Environmental strategy and management systems.
