Job summary

GVR Solutions represents a well established main contractor in South London seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead and continuously improve the company’s SHEQ management systems across refurbishment, extensions, new builds and renovations.

You will oversee ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001, develop procedures, supervise audits, and drive a positive safety culture, reporting to Directors and Contracts Managers. Must hold NVQ Level 6 OH&S and NEBOSH Construction Certificate.

Qualifications

• Must have NVQ Level 6 Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent.
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate is required.
• Chartered IOSH or CertIOSH membership preferred.
• Full UK driving licence and CSCS card required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and continually improve the company's SHEQ strategy.
• Influence a positive safety, quality and environmental culture.
• Act as principal SHEQ advisor to site teams, Directors and Contracts Managers.
• Develop and maintain health and safety procedures and systems.
• Investigate accidents and near misses; supervise RAMS and site safety docs.
• Oversee site audits, training, reporting and corrective actions.
• Identify digital systems to improve SHEQ reporting and document control.
• Lead ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 implementation and maintenance.

Health and Safety Manager Required in South London

GVR Solutions are currently representing a well established main contractor who are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead and continuously improve the company’s Safety, Health, Environment and Quality management systems.

As a main contractor they work on a range of refurbishment, extension, new build, and renovation projects across commercial, residential and public sectors. Their projects typically range from £200k-£4m in value.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ability to lead and continually improve the company's SHEQ strategy
• Influence a positive safety, quality and environmental culture throughout the business
• Undertake responsibilities as the principal advisor on SHEQ matters to site Teams, Directors and Contracts Managers
• Proficiency in developing, implementing and maintaining company health and safety procedures
• Have all responsibility for the company’s SHEQ function
• Always investigate accidents, incidents and near misses when they occur
• Supervise Phase Plans, RAMS and site-specific safety documentation
• Carry out regular site inspections and audits
• Keep company policies, procedures and management systems up to date
• Oversee site audits, inspections, incident investigations and corrective actions
• Manage SHEQ training and competency requirements across the business
• Support the wider business with risk management, continuous improvement and reports on SHEQ Performance
• Identify and introduce digital systems and processes that improve SHEQ reporting, document control and operational efficiency.
• Lead and maintain both ISO(phone number removed) and ISO9001 systems

Key Requirements:

• Must have NVQ Level 6 Occupational Health & Safety
• Valid NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
• Must hold a Chartered IOSH or CertIOSH membership.
• Valid and in-date CSCS Card and a full UK driving licence.
• Good working knowledge of the construction legislation.
• Experience working with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
• Strong communication, leadership and problem solving skills
• Desirable qualifications include: Lead Auditor, ISO Internal Auditor, Fire Door Inspection, Temporary Works, Environmental Management or Leadership/Management.
