Job summary

SHARPS° is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead our H&S strategy across manufacturing facilities and customer sites. This is a hands-on role, driving compliance, continuous improvement and a positive safety culture with contractors and employees.

Key responsibilities include audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, training delivery, and reporting to senior management. NEBOSH Diploma and IOSH membership are required or preferred, with experience in ISO 45001/14001.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Diploma required or equivalent.
  • IOSH Membership (GradIOSH or CMIOSH preferred).
  • Experience leading Health & Safety in manufacturing or high-risk environments.
  • Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation (COSHH, PUWER, RIDDOR).
  • Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills.
  • Hands-on, practical approach with strong analytical/reporting abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation (COSHH, PUWER, RIDDOR).
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve H&S policies, procedures and emergency plans.
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits and site inspections; address hazards.
  • Lead investigations into accidents and near-misses; implement preventative actions.
  • Deliver H&S inductions, toolbox talks and training.
  • Monitor and report H&S performance; provide insights to senior management.
  • Manage contractor, visitor and environmental compliance (waste, hazardous substances, fire safety).
  • Champion proactive safety culture; support ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Drive digital Health & Safety systems; support Zero Accident strategy and wellbeing initiatives.

Location: Bilston, Wolverhampton

Salary: c£50,000 + Company Car/Car Allowance

Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday (Flexibility Required)

About The Role

We're looking for an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Manager to lead our health, safety and environmental strategy across our manufacturing facility and customer sites. This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with employees, managers and contractors to drive compliance, continuous improvement and a positive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Ensuring compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, including COSHH, PUWER, RIDDOR and associated regulations.
  • Developing, implementing and continuously improving Health & Safety policies, procedures and emergency plans.
  • Conducting risk assessments, audits and site inspections, ensuring hazards are identified and addressed.
  • Leading accident, incident and near-miss investigations, implementing preventative actions.
  • Delivering Health & Safety inductions, toolbox talks and training.
  • Monitoring and reporting Health & Safety performance, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Managing contractor, visitor and environmental compliance, including waste management, hazardous substances and fire safety.
  • Championing a proactive safety culture and supporting ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Driving the transition to digital Health & Safety systems and supporting the business's Zero Accident strategy and wellbeing initiatives.
About You

You’ll have:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent).
  • IOSH Membership (GradIOSH or CMIOSH preferred).
  • Previous Health & Safety leadership experience within manufacturing or another high-risk environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, including COSHH, PUWER and RIDDOR.
  • Experience working with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Strong communication, coaching and influencing skills, with the ability to engage colleagues at every level.
  • A practical, hands-on approach with excellent analytical and reporting skills.
