Job summary

A leading construction firm in the UK seeks a Health & Safety Manager to lead the H&S policies and ensure compliance across projects. The ideal candidate will have over three years of experience in construction H&S management, holding relevant NEBOSH qualifications. Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and ISO management standards.
  • Experience within maintenance or public sector construction projects.
  • Full driving license.

Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading construction firm on the appointment of a Health & Safety Manager.

As Health & Safety Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of H&S policies, provide guidance and coaching to operational teams, and ensure all projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with ISO and legislative standards.

In your new role:
  • Lead, develop, and continuously improve Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with HSE legislation, ISO45001, ISO14001, and company standards
  • Conduct risk assessments, site audits, and incident investigations
  • Champion employee wellbeing, mental health initiatives, and promote a positive safety culture
  • Provide expert guidance on HSE, environmental, and operational compliance issues
  • Oversee contractor compliance and implement effective subcontractor policies
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, and ensure statutory requirements are met
  • Actively participate in management meetings, contributing to company-wide operational decisions
  • Support continuous improvement programs and corporate social responsibility initiatives
What you will need to succeed:
  • 3+ years' experience in a Construction H&S Management role
  • Relevant Health and Safety qualifications (NEBOSH)
  • In-depth knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and ISO management standards
  • Good communication and influencing skills
  • IT and numeracy skills (MS Office)
  • Full driving license
Desirable:
  • Experience within the maintenance or public sector construction projects
  • NEBOSH Diploma / Degree in Safety or related discipline
  • IOSH Membership
  • Experience working across multiple sites operations
