Job summary

Andrews Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead safety across multiple sites within highways and civil engineering in Kent and the South East. The role blends visibility on projects with strong relationship-building to embed a proactive safety culture.

You will drive continuous improvement, ensure compliance with UK legislation, and work with senior leadership to achieve top safety standards while supporting site teams and external audits.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent required.
• IOSH Membership (or working towards Chartered status).
• Experience supporting multiple operational sites.
• Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Experience building positive relationships with operational teams rather than policing them.

Responsibilities

• Promoting a proactive Health, Safety and Wellbeing culture across the business.
• Carrying out regular site inspections and audits.
• Supporting operational teams with risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Investigating incidents and identifying preventative actions.
• Delivering toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Advising senior management on legislative compliance and best practice.
• Monitoring performance and identifying opportunities for continual improvement.
• Working closely with clients and stakeholders on Health & Safety matters.
• Supporting external audits and maintaining management systems.
• Ensuring compliance with ISO standards and current Health & Safety legislation.
