Job summary

Principal People is recruiting a Health & Safety Advisor to support a diverse portfolio of projects across the North West. The role combines practical H&S consultancy with CDM 2015 Principal Designer duties, with 2–3 days weekly on client sites and predominantly home-based work.

You will manage your own workload and client relationships while benefiting from an established support network and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General, Construction Certificate or equivalent.
• Strong practical experience within construction, engineering or related environments.
• Solid understanding of CDM 2015.
• Experience working with design teams and Principal Designer responsibilities.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the North West.

Responsibilities

• Act as Health & Safety Advisor across a portfolio of construction and engineering projects.
• Support clients with duties under CDM 2015 and Principal Designer responsibilities where required.
• Carry out site inspections, audits and compliance visits.
• Provide practical H&S and CDM guidance to clients, contractors, project managers and design teams.
• Review pre-construction information, construction phase documentation and risk assessments.
• Attend design, project and client meetings and contribute to design risk reviews.
• Build strong client relationships and manage your diary across multiple projects.
• Support ongoing improvements in H&S and CDM standards.

Principal People are working with a well-established and growing Health & Safety consultancy to recruit a Health & Safety / CDM Advisor to support a diverse portfolio of clients and projects across the North West.

This is a varied position combining practical Health & Safety consultancy with Principal Designer responsibilities under CDM 2015. You'll work across healthcare, housebuilding and industrial environments, giving you exposure to different projects, clients and stages of the construction process.

The role is predominantly home based, with travel to client sites typically 2-3 days per week across the North West. Around 50% of the current workload sits within NHS healthcare estates, with the remainder split across major housebuilding clients and wider industrial projects.

You’ll join an experienced consultancy where you’ll be trusted to manage your own workload and client relationships, while having the support of an established wider team.
