Job summary

A leading contractor in Leiston is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor for the Sizewell C project. The candidate will lead safety initiatives, ensuring compliance and promoting a positive safety culture on-site. Responsibilities include conducting audits, risk assessments, and providing safety training. Candidates must have proven experience in large civil engineering projects and hold a NEBOSH qualification and valid CSCS card. Flexibility for night and weekend work is required.

Job description

We are supporting a Tier 1 Contractor working on the enabling works at the Sizewell C project. We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to ensure all site activities are planned and executed safely, supporting compliance and best practice across this high–profile infrastructure programme.

The Role:

• Act as the on–site Health & Safety lead for enabling works packages.
• Ensure works are safely planned and delivered, in line with company and statutory requirements.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments; monitor compliance with RAMS and permit systems.
• Support site management and delivery teams with proactive safety advice and training.
• Investigate incidents, produce reports, and drive continuous improvement.
• Liaise with client representatives and stakeholders to maintain high safety standards.

Experience Required:

• Proven experience as a Health & Safety Advisor on large civil engineering projects (roads, earthworks, infrastructure).
• Strong knowledge of enabling works and site safety planning.
• NEBOSH qualification and valid CSCS card essential.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills; able to engage teams and promote a positive safety culture.
• Must be flexible to work nights and weekends on site as required by project demands.
