Job summary

Advance Training & Recruitment Services seeks a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Adviser for the IERRT project with Associate British Ports. You will support the Project Health and Safety Manager to safeguard personnel and public through leadership, guidance and compliant practices.

You will help implement HSW policies, manage site procedures, and assist with risk assessments, KPI reporting and training delivery. Strong communication and a NEBOSH Construction Certificate are essential.

Qualifications

  • Marine and general construction H&S knowledge.
  • Understanding of Tier 2 COMAH zone.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication.
  • Minimum NEBOSH Construction Certificate with relevant experience.
  • Ability to influence project team and stakeholders.
  • Clear thinker with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of Behaviour and its influence on culture.
  • Understanding of Occupational Health.
  • Experience delivering training and presentations.
  • Computer literacy with MS Office and Power BI.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the project team in safe delivery through HSW policies and plans.
  • Assist in producing site-specific HSMS procedures and plans.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, contractual HSW requirements and best practice.
  • Assist in risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Promote positive HSW culture and behaviours.
  • Support inspections, data analysis and KPI reporting.
  • Contribute to inductions and training and mentor staff.
  • Assist/lead investigations into accidents and root causes.
  • Record HSW data and use it to drive learning and improvement.
  • Support the Head of HSW UK&I and annual HSW strategy delivery.
  • Be active in both office and site environments.
  • Capture lessons learned and disseminate via toolbox talks and briefings.
  • Set an example that positively influences HSW attitudes.

Job description

Job Summary

The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Adviser is responsible for supporting the Project Health and Safety Manager ensure the continued safety and health of personnel working on the project, Associate British Ports (ABP) stakeholders including members of the public through the provision of leadership, guidance and support compliant with legislation, client requirements and industry best practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing support to the IERRT project team in the safe delivery of the contract through the implementation of the HSW Policy and IERRT HSW management plans and systems.
  • Assist in the production of HSMS site specific procedures/ arrangements and plans
  • Ensure project compliance with statutory legislation, contractual HSW requirements and industry best practice.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Actively promote behaviours key to a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture.
  • Support and carry out inspection and monitoring activities and effective use of the arising data.
  • Compile and report monthly KPIs and maintain the project HSW Dashboard, including providing monthly KPI data.
  • Participate in developing and presenting inductions and training as required, and mentor other project staff members.
  • Assist/lead in investigations into accidents and incidents and root causes, and support the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Ensure that key HSW data including incident, monitoring, and audit findings are recorded in the appropriate management database and used to inform learning and drive forward improvement.
  • Assist the Head of HSW UK&I as required and support the business in the successful delivery of the annual HSW Strategy and Plan.
  • Visibly active both within the office and site environments
  • Assist with the capturing of lessons learned and the dissemination of the information through the creation of toolbox talks and HSW briefings.
  • Set a personal example of the behaviours that positively influence HSW attitudes
Qualifications, Certifications & Experience
  • Marine and general construction H&S knowledge
  • Understanding of working in Tier 2 COMAH zone
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal and be comfortable communicating at all levels throughout the project.
  • Minimum NEBOSH Construction Certificate and demonstrate a level of experience relevant for the role. Able to demonstrate an understanding of the role of HSW Management in a Design and Build construction team.
  • Ability to influence both project team and key stakeholders.
  • A clear thinker with strong interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of Behaviour and its influence on Culture.
  • Understanding of Occupational Health
  • Experience of delivering training and conducting presentations
  • Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerBi, document control software
