Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post is: Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:00

A highly motivated and experienced leader with expertise in public health/health improvement, preferably within the field of sexual health and blood borne virus prevention is sought. This post will lead the strategic development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of health improvement work designed to address inequalities in sexual health and contribute towards the ambition to eliminate new transmissions of HIV in the population of Greater Glasgow and Clyde by 2030.

The post is based within the Health Improvement Team for sexual health, hosted within the Sandyford Sexual Health Service. The postholder will work to implement the key national and local actions for sexual health across all six of the local authority areas in NHSGGC.

The post will take a lead for developing partnerships with a range of statutory and voluntary agencies across Greater Glasgow and Clyde to develop evidence-based interventions designed to address unmet sexual health need for the population of NHSGGC.

You will be ideally educated to post graduate level or with evidence of relevant public health /Health Improvement experience and ongoing CPD. You will have proven experience of operating at a senior level within an NHS or Local Authority environment; working across organisational and/or professional boundaries and the ability to develop multiple programmes of work to achieve agreed outcomes within tight deadlines.

Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and negotiate across a wide range of staff are essential. Experience of project and resource management across a range of settings would be an advantage.
