Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is recruiting a Healthcare Support Worker for the Frailty Unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. You will support older adults with frailty and complex needs, delivering compassionate, person-centred care under the supervision of registered nurses.

The role offers permanent, full-time or part-time positions with 12-hour day and night shifts. Flexible working options may be discussed, with pro rata salary for part-time hours. NHSGGC supports development and staff wellbeing.

The Role

Working alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will support older adults living with frailty and complex healthcare needs throughout their hospital journey, delivering compassionate, person-centred care. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
  • Glasgow Royal Infirmary
  • Monday to Sunday, 12 hour day & night shifts
  • Various full-time and part-time positions available

  • Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care for patients within the Frailty Unit
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living while promoting dignity, independence and wellbeing
  • Work under the supervision of Registered Nurses to contribute to all aspects of patient care
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team
  • Accurately record and report patient information in line with local policies and procedures
  • Contribute positively to maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming clinical environment
  • Provide compassionate support to patients throughout their hospital journey, helping to deliver the highest standards of care
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
  • A genuine commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a busy clinical environment
  • A caring, respectful and professional approach to patient care at all times
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and remain calm in a fast-paced setting
  • Previous experience within a healthcare environment is desirable, particularly within acute or elderly care services
  • Commitment to maintaining patient dignity, privacy and wellbeing while upholding NHS values
