Job summary

Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Lead Nurse for the Pain Specialty to support patients with chronic pain and rehabilitation. You will work evenings, nights and weekends, based in Bernard Ireland House within the Pain department, contributing to care, comfort and independence for patients in challenging situations.

You will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, maintain records, and help deliver compassionate, patient-centred care in a busy NHS environment.

Qualifications

• Able to understand and communicate in English both verbally and written.
• Basic IT skills to access required systems e.g. electronic patient records; experience with NHS computer systems; teamwork experience.
• Experience of caring for patients with chronic pain.

Responsibilities

• Support patients with personal care and activities of daily living; assist in running accommodation and clinic/therapy rooms.
• Deliver high quality care in line with the Pain Specialty ethos and support the interdisciplinary team.
• Recognise changes in patients' condition and report to clinical staff; maintain accurate records.

Hello, my name is Erica Apps, and I am the Lead Nurse for the Pain Speciality at the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust., This role is unique and will be an interesting career development for people at any point in their working lives. The role involves working evenings, nights and weekends to support the patients during their specialist pain rehabilitation. You will be based in Bernard Ireland House (E2) at the RUH within this department we have accommodation for the patients accessing the specialist pain rehabilitation programmes. We are a professional and supportive team. We understand the pressures that we all face, and we work together to provide outstanding care to all our patients. Your responsibilities will include supporting our patients with personal care and activities of daily living whilst also maintaining running of the accommodation and clinic/therapy rooms. You will be supporting patients and will be making a difference to their independence in the presence of pain and distress which is challenging for many of our patients on a day to day basis. You will help provide emotional support to both our patients and the people that are close to them, assist in providing management behaviour techniques and deliver the best care possible to our patients who have significant pain and pain associated disabilities, To deliver high quality care in line with the Pain Speciality ethos. To assist patients with significant physical pain disability using manual handling techniques as required by Trust policy. To deliver this care under the guidance of the Interdisciplinary team in the Pain Speciality. To recognise and report to the clinical team any changes to patients behaviour/ condition To maintain accurate records using the trust computer systems.
