  • Provide basic patient care in a surgical ward.
  • Assist pregnant patients and oncology patients.
  • Support emergency department activities within the ward.
Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post is days/nights 24/7 working 22.79 hours per week.

Please note salary is prorata for part time hours.

The department is Gynaecology. We are predominantly a surgical ward. We look after pregnant patients up to 12 weeks gestation with various issues as well as oncology patients. The ward has a mini emergency dept within it. We see emergencies from GP/A&E plus provide some return appointments through this service also.

Main tasks will include:
  • Basic patient care, helping with daily ADLs
  • Catheter care and venflon management
  • Venepuncture
  • Observations and NEWS recording
  • MUST scoring
  • Active care/fluid balance/food record charts
  • Admin and IT systems
  • Learnpro and Infection control measures
