Job description

We are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic, motivated, quick thinkers to join our friendly team to deliver care to acutely unwell patients. Our patients are admitted directly from the Emergency Department and our medical team rapidly assess and formulate treatment plans here in AMU. Patients then will move to other wards, to Community Hospitals or go home.

You will be willing to learn/ partake or be experienced in:

  • delivering high standards of personalcare to patients
  • supporting the Registered Nurses to deliver plans of care
  • escorting patients to other wards and departments
  • working shifts on rotation of days and nights including weekends.

We will support you to reach your potential by providing in house training and support and a broad range of opportunities are available within the Trust for the right candidates.

Main duties of the job

oTo assist the registered nurse in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care.

oTo report any concerns to the registered nurse relating to standards of cleanliness, hazards and patient safety within the clinical area.

oTo ensure the registered nurse is regularly updated on patients' condition and progress.

oTo ensure the equipment is clean and in good working order.

oTo ensure the environment is clean and tidy.

oTo participate with the induction of staff new to the clinical area.

oTo minimize hazards in the working area and report any identifiable hazards to the line manager. To adhere to all safe systems of work applicable to the work area.

oTo demonstrate effective communication, both orally and in writing, to ensure dissemination of information.

oTo maintain confidentiality at all times. oTo promote awareness of child protection issues referring to area child protection policy and Trust policy. Attend child protection training in accordance with the policy.

oTo promote awareness of adult protection issues referring to the Herefordshire Multi-Agency Policy and Procedures for The Protection of Vulnerable Adults from Abuse. Attend adult protection training sessions in accordance with the policies and procedures.

Education & Qualifications
  • A minimum Maths and English GCSE grades 3 - 9 or grades A,B,C,D or equivalent Functional Skills qualifications
  • Willingness to undertake the Maths and English Functional Skills qualifications
  • Diploma level 2/3 in Health & Social Care
  • Willingness to work towards Apprenticeship level 2/3 in Health & Social Care
