Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust (GHC) provides mental, physical and learning disability services across Gloucestershire. We run community hospitals and deliver care in people’s own homes, ensuring personalised care and a shared vision of outstanding service.

Role Summary

We are looking for a Health Care Assistant / Support Worker to join the Reablement and Home First Team. The role is vital in helping people regain independence after hospital stays, injury or illness by providing short‑term support in their homes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support patients with personal care, meal preparation and medication management.
  • Supervise exercise programmes to maintain mobility and independence.
  • Provide compassionate and safe care following the Trust’s Code of Conduct.
  • Participate in reflective practice and training on a regular basis.
Working Hours & Shift Patterns
  • 7‑day service, 07:30–22:00.
  • Full‑time and part‑time roles available on a 4 days on/4 days off or 2 days on/6 days off rolling rota.
  • Popular shifts: Am – 08:00‑13:30 (4 on/4 off) and Pm – 17:00‑22:00 (4 on/4 off).
  • Full‑time post (0.98) works a split shift – flexible working arrangements can be discussed with the recruiting manager.
  • Applicants must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a car for work purposes.
Qualifications & Experience
  • No prior paid care experience required, but an advantage.
  • Enjoy working with people and understand what motivates them.
  • Comfortable providing practical, personal and intimate care.
  • Desire to learn, develop skills and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Successful applicants will be able to progress from Pay Band 2 to Pay Band 3 upon achieving the Care Certificate.
Training & Development

All approved candidates will receive direct supervision, reflective practice and training. Opportunities to pursue a Level 3 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship, including a Level 3 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare, are available.
