Health Care Assistant (Band 2 / 3). Part time applications considered

Woking and Sam Beare Hospice In Patient Unit is looking for caring, passionate and enthusiastic Health Care Assistants to join our amazing team.

At our hospice, we provide exceptional care to patients and their families through some of the most challenging times of their lives. We support our patients in our In Patient Unit, at home plus in our Wellbeing Centre. Our charity specialises in palliative and end of life care for patients with complex and life limiting illnesses who live in North-West Surrey.

We ensure high quality care with great staff to patient ratios, making sure everyone feels cared for and valued. Our warm, clean and homely environment helps patients and families using our services feel safe and comfortable.

Development of staff is a key focus our education team offers excellent training sessions and support staff development through courses and university programs.

Recent examples of our commitment to developing our team include :
  • NA to RN apprenticeships
  • HCA to NA apprenticeships,
  • CNS supported and developed to join our medical team as a Non-Medical Prescriber / ANP
  • Staff Nurse to Senior Staff Nurse
  • Senior Staff Nurse into Clinical Nurse Specialist positions in our community team.

A successful Health Care Assistant will be :
  • Caring and compassionate
  • Willing to develop their knowledge and skills
  • Experience of palliative care is desirable it is not essential as we can offer support through our training and development programme
  • To have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have a can-do, enthusiastic attitude.
A successful candidate will have :
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship. We are unable to offer sponsorship or visa assistance for this position.
  • Care Certificate or NVQ 3 (QCF Level 3 or equivalent) qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
  • Experience of caring for patients in a health or social care setting
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

This role is Band 2-3 depending on experience and qualification. All successful candidates employed into band 2 are encouraged to complete the Care Certificate within 6-12 months of employment which would offer the opportunity to develop into the Band 3 role.
