Health Care Assistant – 24 hours – Permanent Band 2 – Emergency Orthopaedic Unit
Fresh and exciting opportunity within the Surgical, Women’s and Children’s Division as a Clinical Support Worker. Working under the direction of the Sister/Charge Nurse and Registered Healthcare Professionals, you will help ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- CLINICAL:
- Work within the ward/department setting, providing high quality, caring, compassionate and personal care to patients and their families/carers.
- Assist under the direction of the Registered Healthcare Professionals, both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ensure a high standard of service provision by practising effective clinical and administrative preparation, effective communication, prioritising workload and contributing to service improvement.
- Give compassionate, high quality personal care, prioritising appropriately and developing competencies that safeguard practice.
- Act with respect for privacy, dignity, equality, diversity and confidentiality.
- Maintain a professional attitude, demonstrate excellent customer care skills and commit to team working.
- Develop positive relationships with patients, families and carers.
- Flexible Working: Your flexibility is recognised; all requests are considered with the needs of the service in mind.
- As part of the role, you will maintain the highest standards of infection control, safeguarding processes and professional communication.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education & Qualifications
- Good general education / literacy & numeracy, or willingness to achieve.
- Willing to undertake the National Care Certificate training programme.
- Desirable: Holds National Care Certificate.
- Desirable: Working towards or prepared to obtain an Apprenticeship in Clinical Healthcare, with awareness and understanding of confidentiality.
- Desirable: Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Desirable: Demonstrated interest in healthcare services.
- Desirable: Caring / supportive attitude.
- Desirable: Knowledge of infection control & safeguarding processes.
- Experience
- Essential: Experience of caring for patients.
