Job description
Health Care Assistant - D.M.E - Ward M1

The closing date is 19 November 2025

We are looking for a Health Care Assistant to join our team on Ward M1 to assist Registered Nurses and other members of the multidisciplinary team in implementing patients' care plan. The role also involves clerical and domestic duties to ensure a safe environment.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Provides personal care to patients (e.g., bathing, toileting, feeding and care of the dying)
  • Works in accordance with Trust policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates own duties to new starters and others as appropriate
  • Observes patients and reports any changes to a Registered Nurse
  • Performs basic observation process by using automated device for temperature, blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturations and respiratory
  • Takes basic patient measurements (e.g., height and weight)

Knowledge and Skills
  • Previous experience and training of manual handling patients using appropriate equipment
  • Understand importance of promoting patient independence
  • Able to provide support and reassurance to patients
Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
  • Level 2 qualification (e.g., GCSE Grade A-C, NVQ2) in Health & Social Care or equivalent and agreement to undertake the relevant L2 qualification on appointment
  • Completion of the Care Certificate theory and practice standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment with the Trust
  • Experience working in a clinical environment
  • Experience working in the NHS
