Overview

We are currently recruiting experienced Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) to join a friendly and supportive team in a residential nursing home in Darwen. This role involves providing high-quality care and support to residents, many of whom are living with dementia and other complex health needs. We are looking for compassionate, reliable individuals who are confident using manual handling techniques and hoists, and who take pride in delivering person‑centred care. Flexible shifts are available – including days, nights, and weekends – to suit your availability.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Deliver high standards of personal care and emotional support to residents.
  • Assist with mobility, meal preparation, and daily living activities.
  • Safely use hoists and other moving & handling equipment.
  • Support residents with dementia, promoting dignity, comfort, and independence.
  • Record and report observations accurately to senior staff and nurses.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working in a residential or nursing home (essential).
  • Experience supporting individuals with dementia (essential).
  • Confident in manual handling and hoist use.
  • Caring, patient, and professional attitude.
  • Flexible and reliable with a willingness to work varied shifts.
  • Valid care training or Care Certificate (desirable, not essential).
