A dynamic GP practice in central London is seeking a fully trained Health Care Assistant. The role involves performing health checks, taking and dispatching laboratory specimens, and administering injections. The ideal candidate must have a Care Certificate, experience in Phlebotomy and ECG administration, and the ability to perform Blood Pressure and Weight checks. Grand Union Health Centre is a dynamic GP practice that serves 21000 Patients in central London. We have an incredible nursing team and are looking to add a fully trained HCA to our team.
We are looking for someone who is:
Trained in Phlebotomy
Trained in ECG administration
Trained ideally in Paediatric Phlebotomy
Able to do Blood Pressure and Weight checks
System1 experience would be beneficial.
Main duties of the role
See a variety of patients and do physical health checks including blood tests, ECGs, blood pressure, B12 injections, flu immuniastions, NHS health checks.
We have 21,000 patients, 15 doctors, 5 pharmacists, 3 HCAs 3 Nurses, 1 Physician Assistant, 1 Paramedic and a very competent administrative team. We have a number of staff members who have been with us for over 20 years. We are all committed to providing excellent customer service and health care. We have excellent Mori Patient Survery reviews year on year. We also achieve highly in all dashboards to show that we are able to support our patients in an area of high deprivation.
Candidate must have a Care Certificate
The Health Care Assistant is part of the Primary Health Care Team Principal Responsibilities
To take and, where appropriate, despatch laboratory specimens including blood,urine, swabs and other diagnostic tests as required by GPs. Making sure they areready for collection by the designated collection time, or alternatively storing themin the fridge for next day collection.
Setting up the ECG machine to take ECGs and sending them to be read by a GP
Carrying out blood pressure checks as well as fitting and removal of the 24 hourblood pressure monitor.
To advise patients on health care, minor ailments, health promotion and illnessprevention.
To administer flu, pneumonia, and B12 injections having been adequately trained.
