Job description

This position is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to cover maternity leave at Frimley Park Hospital, part of Frimley NHS Health Foundation Trust (FHFT). We are looking for an experienced Health Care Assistant currently working in the UK.

We seek a compassionate, caring healthcare worker who strives to deliver high‑quality care. This is a front‑facing clinical role that requires strong spoken and written English. Applicants must be in the UK and have current or previous experience as an HCA in a UK healthcare setting. This vacancy is open only to applicants already working for FHFT.

Main Duties

As a Health Care Assistant you will work under the supervision of registered nurses or nursing associates, primarily assisting the nursing team with patient care and facilitating the smooth running of the department. You will support clinical care, act in the best interest of patients, honour respect and dignity, and deliver excellent customer care to patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.

  • Assist with collection of urine and faecal samples, swabs, recording fluid intake/output, stoma and bladder bag changes, catheter care, vital signs (pulse, temperature, blood pressure, saturations) and NEWS2 scoring.
  • Provide enhanced care observation (1:1) or bay‑based observation as required.
  • Support professionals in implementing care plans for individual patients.
  • Assist patients with eating and drinking, including menu selection and regard for special diets and cultural requirements.
  • Help patients maintain personal hygiene.
  • Contribute to safe movement of patients using mobilisation equipment following assessment, ensuring patient comfort.
