A leading national insurance group is seeking an experienced Associate or Senior Associate to join its highly regarded Crime & Regulatory team, based in either Manchester or Birmingham.
This team is ranked in both Legal 500 and Chambers for its expertise in advising businesses and professionals on complex, sensitive and high‑profile regulatory matters. The role offers a varied, intellectually stimulating workload, full training on internal practices, and exceptional Partner support.
The Work
You’ll manage a diverse caseload encompassing both contentious and non‑contentious advice for insured and uninsured clients, including:
- Inquests and public inquiries
- Professional discipline (healthcare experience advantageous) and police disciplinary cases
- Health & safety, environmental and licensing matters
- Ofsted/CQC registration, enforcement and entity regulation
- Business crime and criminal investigations, including interviews under caution
- Coverage analysis where required
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with 1-3 years' PQE
- Strong experience across inquests, professional discipline, regulatory or criminal work
- Excellent client care and communication skills, with empathy when advising on sensitive matters
- Well‑organised, pragmatic and calm under pressure
- Familiarity with insurer relationships and legal expenses funding models advantageous
- Collaborative, team‑focused and committed to delivering the highest standards of client service
