Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, The Health and Safety Officer will support the Risk and Compliance function in ensuring regulatory compliance, identifying risks and process improvements. Key components of the role cover the assessment and review of company regulatory policy requirements, regular internal auditing and supporting the Health and Safety Manager in ISO audit preparation. This role is also to promote health and safety to all stakeholders within the business and to regularly monitor that health and safety systems are properly administered in order to meet the statutory obligations in this regard. As part of the Group compliance team this role will also be used in a first‑responder capacity in the event of any emergency situations occurring which require a presence on site, or at the location. The role will become the eyes and ears of the Health & Safety Management Team to ensure appropriate advice and guidance can be provided as soon as possible in any given circumstance.
Responsibilities
- Monitor correct application of internal health and safety processes within a set geographical area.
- Conduct desktop and site audits of both our own sites and suppliers, reporting findings and key risks for the business to the Health and Safety Manager.
- Provide advice on the application and interpretation of health and safety legislation.
- Present findings to the Health and Safety Manager and support delivery in monthly supplier review meetings as and when required.
- Collaborate with and support Client Service and Operations departments to ensure monthly reporting.
- Work with all members of the compliance team, including the Group Lead ISO Compliance Auditor, to ensure an overarching approach to health and safety and compliance.
- Assess incidents or near misses whilst performing root cause analysis and ongoing monitoring.
- Report key functional deliverables to the Health and Safety Manager, as issues arise, and on a monthly basis.
- Assist the department in handling and responding to complaints.
- Travel to the various Group offices and locations to conduct appropriate risk assessments and regulatory visits.
- Produce monthly reporting and commentary of health and safety and compliance monitoring across responsible area to the Health and Safety Manager.
