The role is based in Castlederg and operates on a Monday to Friday schedule.
Initially this role is a 12 month contract.
Salary
£35,000 - £40,000 + Benefits package
Responsibilities
- Assist the SHEQ Manager with developing, implementing, and maintaining the organisation's SHEQ Management Systems, ensuring compliance is upheld across all operational sites.
- Provide reliable, day‑to‑day SHEQ guidance to site personnel, promoting a strong and proactive SHEQ culture through effective communication and collaboration.
- Carry out internal SHEQ inspections and audits, highlighting good practices as well as areas requiring corrective action, and present clear, practical recommendations for improvement.
- Support the drafting, review, and ongoing enhancement of operational risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Contribute to the rollout of SHEQ‑related change initiatives, ensuring they are consistent with company standards and procedures.
- Keep abreast of relevant legislation and industry requirements to ensure compliance and best practice.
- Act as a point of contact with external regulatory bodies (e.g., HSENI, local authorities) on behalf of the SHEQ Manager, addressing SHEQ‑related matters as needed.
- Assist in compiling SHEQ performance reports by analysing trends, identifying key issues, and helping shape strategies for improvement.
- Participate in accident and incident investigations when required, determining root causes and proposing effective preventative measures.
Essential Criteria
- Proven background as a SHEQ Advisor or similar role, preferably within a multi‑site operational setting.
- Possession of a recognised Health & Safety qualification such as the NEBOSH General Certificate or an equivalent credential.
- Strong knowledge of Northern Ireland Health & Safety legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Evidenced experience in conducting accident and incident investigations.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with the capability to identify hazards and implement suitable control measures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
