Industrious Recruitment are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Officer to work for a client in the Milton Keynes area.

The Health and Safety Officer will drive compliance and foster a positive safety culture. In this role you'll carry out inspections, audits and risk assessments, investigate incidents, and provide training and guidance across the organisation.

Accountability Expectations
  • Responsible for own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do (or don't do).
  • Work in adherence to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Management of Health and Safety at Work Act 1999 and all other relevant H&S UK Law as set out by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
  • Report any issues, risks, hazards, near misses, incidents or unsafe practices to the management immediately.
  • Understand risks, including COSHH, and how to mitigate them, including adherence to PPE rules.
  • Ensure areas of work are clean, safe and 'fit-to-fly'.
  • Attend all required health & safety training.
  • Work in adherence to various ISO standards
Specific Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and promote a proactive health and safety culture within the organisation.
  • Conduct workplace risk assessment and recommend control measures to reduce hazards.
  • Deliver health and safety training and toolbox talks to employees at all levels.
  • Monitor and review health and safety performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Lead on incident investigations, ensuring lessons learned are shared and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Support management in developing emergency procedure and conducting drills.
  • Ensure all staff have access to the necessary PPE and are trained in its proper use.
  • Work with department heads to integrate Health and Safety considerations into daily operations.
  • Keep up to date with emerging risks and industry best practices to continuously improve safety standards.
  • Strong knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence employees at all levels.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess risks and develop effective control measures.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects, audits, and training sessions effectively.
  • Ability to handle and investigate accidents with professionalism and discretion
