About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Officer to join our team at a Salford-based college for a 12-week fixed term contract. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting and maintaining a safe, compliant, and positive working and learning environment for all students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and support all aspects of health, safety, and welfare across the college.
  • Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and college policies.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, providing detailed reports and recommendations.
  • Deliver health and safety training, guidance, and support to staff as required.
  • Liaise with external agencies and ensure statutory obligations are met.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness throughout the college community.
Essential Requirements
  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within an educational or public sector environment.
  • A recognised Health & Safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
  • A current Enhanced DBS certificate (this is essential for the role).
Desirable
  • Experience working within a college or similar educational setting.
