Overview

Health and Safety Manager

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £44,745 - £50,253 per annum

Vacancy Type: Full Time

Hours: 37 hours per week

Responsibilities
  • Manage the University's Health and Safety management systems and promote safe working practices.
  • Develop and maintain health and safety standards; provide advice and guidance regarding compliance with statutory requirements, legislation and regulations; promote best practice in line with sector and professional standards.
  • Policy development, conduct health and safety audits, support investigations, and review and undertake risk assessments and Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessments as appropriate.
  • Lead or participate in working groups for the delivery of health, safety and wellbeing projects.
  • Prepare and present Health & Safety reports.
  • Design and deliver effective health and safety and related training, including staff health & safety inductions.
Qualifications
  • The successful applicant will be a Chartered member of IOSH or an equivalent body.
  • Must have NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety at a minimum.
  • Experience of UK health and safety best practice and legislation, with relevant practical experience in managing health and safety in the workplace.
  • Previous experience in Higher Education is advantageous but not essential.
