Job summary

A Principal Contractor in Wembley is seeking a Health and Safety Manager for an 18-month fixed-term contract to oversee a major Data Centre project. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in health and safety management, excellent communication skills, and strong technical knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance. This role requires regular site visits and site audits to ensure effective delivery of health and safety strategies.

Health and Safety Manager (18 Month FTC)

Irwin and Colton have been engaged by a Principal Contractor who are seeking a Health and Safety Managers to oversee a major Data Centre project in Wembley. This role is overseeing a major Principal Contractor operation, so experience working with or interacting with Tier 1 contractors or clients is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regularly visiting the site, advising operational managers to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the Health and Safety strategy.
  • Conducting site audits to ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards.
  • Preparing and presenting HSE reports to the senior management team.
  • Leading accident investigations and incident reporting, including root cause analysis.
  • Reviewing existing and new systems of work, identifying potential flaws or training needs to enhance the on-site safety culture.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a similar role within construction, M&E, or Data Centre sectors.
  • A NEBOSH/NCRQ Diploma, NVQ Level 5 (or equivalent), and ideally, Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH).
  • Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated success in engaging with clients and contractors.
  • Strong technical knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, compliance, and regulations.
