Job summary

Anne Corder Recruitment Ltd is working with a client in Peterborough to hire an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead site safety across multiple projects. You will drive high standards on commercial, industrial and refurbishment sites and report to the Managing Director.

Role includes developing procedures, coordinating risk assessments and method statements, conducting audits, and delivering on-site training. Travel across Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years’ health and safety experience within construction or fit‑out environments.
• NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and UK health and safety legislation.
• Proven experience conducting site inspections, audits and incident investigations.
• Experience working with main contractors and managing subcontractor safety.
• Confident communication skills to influence, educate and support people at all levels.
• Strong organisation, attention to detail and report writing.
• Full, clean UK driving licence and ability to work independently across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead health and safety across the business, developing procedures and safe systems of work.
• Prepare and review risk assessments and method statements, ensuring suitable controls are in place.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and safety walks across commercial and industrial projects.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, implementing corrective actions and encouraging proactive reporting.
• Ensure subcontractors are appropriately vetted, inducted and working in line with site safety requirements.
• Advise management and project teams on UK health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.
• Deliver in‑house training, leading the health and safety committee and managing accreditation renewals.
• Reporting on safety performance, audit findings and key risks directly to the Managing Director.

Job Title: Health and Safety Manager

Are you an experienced Health and Safety Manager looking for a varied, hands‑on role where you can lead site safety, support project teams and drive high standards across commercial and industrial projects?

This Health and Safety Manager role is a brilliant opportunity for a confident safety professional who enjoys being visible on site, building strong working relationships and taking ownership of safety standards across multiple projects. You will join an established business delivering commercial installations, refurbishments, maintenance, industrial installations and planned preventative maintenance.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead health and safety activity across the business, manage a Health and Safety Officer and work closely with site managers, supervisors, clients and subcontractors. The role combines practical site support with responsibility for procedures, compliance, training and continuous improvement, with regular travel to sites across Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.

As Health and Safety Manager, your responsibilities will include:
