Health and Safety Manager

Location: Halifax

Salary: £60k - £75k plus company car

A steel fabrication and structures company are now looking for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join their team.

Job Overview

The company is a market leading structural steelwork contractor supplying structural steelwork packages to the construction industry for over 50 years. Due to retirement, the position of Health and safety Manager has become available. The person will need to have proven experience working in the construction industry and will be competent with the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Reporting directly to the Managing Director for HSQE
  • Preparation and review of Safe systems of work including production of risk assessments for the business in the production facility and on-site, ensuring these meet current statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct HSQE audits and surveillance inspection and lead any accident, incident and Near Miss reporting
  • Managing and leading the pre-qualification process with Achilles, Construction Line and the various customer pre-qualification data bases
  • Pre-qualification and auditing of our sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Preparing reports on near misses and minor accidents
  • Ensure adequate Training, and records, of employees on health and safety matters
Qualifications
  • Ideally hold a NEBOSH Diploma or Equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Ideally be a member of IOSH and working towards CMIOSH
  • The ideal candidate would have experience working for a Steel Structures company
  • Ideally hold a full UK driving licence
