Health & Safety Manager (Part-Time)

💷 Salary: Up to £50,000 FTE (pro-rata)

About the Role

We're partnering with a respected manufacturing business seeking a Health & Safety Manager to take ownership of the site's Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) strategy. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, this is a key leadership role responsible for maintaining compliance, driving continuous improvement, and promoting a strong safety culture across all site operations. This is a part‑time position, offering flexibility around working hours and days - ideal for an experienced HSE professional looking for a balanced role with genuine autonomy and influence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain site HSE policies and procedures to ensure full legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead and embed a positive safety culture through proactive engagement with all departments.
  • Maintain and manage external accreditations, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, liaising with auditors and regulatory bodies.
  • Conduct and follow up on regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Deliver induction and refresher HSE training to all employees and management teams.
  • Oversee incident investigations, reporting, and KPI tracking to drive performance improvement.
  • Act as the site's HSE representative for customer, compliance, and regulatory audits.
  • Support environmental and sustainability initiatives, including 6S and LEAN-based safety improvements.
About You
  • NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) qualification.
  • Proven HSE management experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Confident communicator with excellent influencing and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable managing HSE systems and reporting.
  • Self‑motivated, organised, and capable of operating independently while supporting senior leadership.
