Role Overview

As our Health and Safety Manager, you'll be responsible for the design, implementation, ongoing management, and communication of Hastings Direct’s Health and Safety policies and risk management. You'll also identify opportunities to improve the company's operational activities and generate performance reports. This is a key and varied role within a busy team serving the whole business across three sites (Bexhill, London, and Leicester).

Job Details
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies, procedures and systems across the organisation and ensuring compliance with all the current health and safety legislation, regulations and standards.
  • Conducting regular risk assessments, audits and inspections, identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective measures.
  • Ensuring proper investigation of accidents and incidents, producing reports and recommending preventative actions.
  • Ensuring the organisation's public sector duty obligations are met in accordance with applicable legislation.
  • Providing expert advice to senior management and operational teams regarding health and safety issues and leading health and safety training initiatives for staff to promote a safety‑first culture across all locations.
  • Working closely with external auditors and agencies, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Essential Skills / Experience
  • Strong background in health & safety management within office based, multi‑site organisations, alongside in-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk management and compliance frameworks.
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and drive improvements across multiple locations.
  • Experience in conducting audits, risk assessments and implementation of Health and Safety policies.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others.
