This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air‑Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s vast network of rooms.

The role

As a Health and Safety Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll take a pivotal role in ensuring the wellbeing of our workforce and contractors on the Hinkley Point C construction site – one of the most prestigious nuclear infrastructure projects in the UK.

Day-to-day, you’ll

  • Monitor working practices of MEH employees and contractors to ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and welfare standards.
  • Record findings from audits and inspections in line with HSSE Management System requirements.
  • Support accident investigations and oversee HSE advisors’ KPIs.
  • Build strong working relationships with Tier 1 contractors and the Principal Contractor.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to H&S or Discipline Leads for further support.

This is a full‑time, permanent position, 37 hours per week, based on site at Hinkley Point C near Bridgwater, Somerset.

Essential experience of the Health and Safety Lead:

  • Bringing significant, relevant experience in the construction industry.
  • Communicating clearly and confidently to explain HSE procedures and expectations to diverse teams.
  • Demonstrating a strong working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
