Job summary

Flamingo Horticulture is seeking a Health and Safety Coordinator to support the delivery of the UK health and safety strategy at the Stevenage site. You will work under the UK Health & Safety Manager and help embed safe working practices, promote employee engagement, and drive a strong safety culture across the site and wider business.

You will collaborate with the UK Health & Safety Team and coordinate safety activities across Flamingo Flowers sites in Sandy and Weston, contributing to risk

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in a Health & Safety role, ideally within manufacturing or operational environments.
• NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
• Experience developing, implementing, and reviewing risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work (SSOWs).
• Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Competent in health and safety management systems, including accurate record keeping and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Promote and support a positive health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with policies and legal requirements.
• Support the maintenance and development of the UK SHE Management System.
• Investigate accidents, near misses and unsafe acts, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate health and safety training, inductions and refresher programmes.
• Coordinate site-based safety improvements and contractor management across operational areas.
• Participate in joint Health & Safety meetings with Sandy and Weston sites.

Reporting To: UK Health & Safety Manager

Job Purpose

The Health and Safety Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the effective delivery of Flamingo’s health and safety strategy at the Stevenage site. Working under the UK Health & Safety Manager and as part of the wider Flamingo UK Health & Safety Team, the role ensures legal compliance, supports risk reduction, and drives continuous improvement in health and safety performance.

The Health and Safety Coordinator will work closely with operational teams to embed safe working practices, promote employee engagement and contribute to the development of a strong, proactive safety culture across the site and wider business.

As part of the Flamingo UK Health & Safety Team, the role will work collaboratively with:

• UK Health & Safety Manager (Lead)
• Flamingo Flowers, Sandy – Health & Safety Coordinator
• Flamingo Flowers & Plants, Weston – Health & Safety Coordinator

Key Responsibilities:

• Health & Safety Culture -Promote and support a positive health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Safety Systems & Compliance -Support the maintenance and ongoing development of the UK SHE Management System.
• Accident & Incident Reduction -Investigate accidents, near misses and unsafe acts, ensuring appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented
• Training & Development -Coordinate health and safety training, inductions and refresher programmes
• Site-Specific Safety & Contractor Management -Coordinate site-based safety improvement initiatives across operational areas

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications
