Job description
Overview

Based at our Support Office in Hemel Hempstead, the successful candidate will work across both construction and operational areas of the business, supporting our Health & Safety Manager / Fire Officer and the wider Build and Facilities team. The role involves regular travel to our care homes and active construction and refurbishment sites, ensuring high standards of safety and compliance across all phases of our projects. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and hands‑on work.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conducting Construction Health & Safety audits on live projects and refurbishments
  • Producing risk assessments and CDM documentation (F10, CPPs, RAMS, etc.)
  • Carrying out audits within care homes related to fire safety, water safety, and COSHH
  • Monitoring Legionella and fire risk assessments, ensuring actions are completed
  • Performing annual asbestos inspections in properties containing ACMs
  • Providing Health & Safety support to care homes and maintenance teams
  • Monitoring training needs and coordinating Health & Safety training for staff and subcontractors
  • NEBOSH Occupational Health Certificate
  • Some construction experience
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation
  • Asbestos Awareness and Legionella Awareness
  • Enhanced Adult/Child DBS (to be processed by B&M Care)
  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or currently working towards)
Personal Qualities

You’ll be flexible, proactive, and comfortable managing a varied workload across multiple sites. You’ll have strong communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a willingness to be hands‑on when needed. An understanding of dementia would be beneficial, and training will be provided for you.
