Job Overview

Based at B&M Care Support Office in Hemel Hempstead, this full‑time role supports the Health and Safety Manager with audits, inspections and compliance across our care homes and construction sites.

H & S work is required on construction, refurbishment and operational phases.

Rate of Pay: starting from £38,000.

Contract Type: Full Time.

Contract Hours: 40 hours per week.

Work Location: B&M Care Support Office, Hemel Hempstead – requirement to travel to care homes and construction sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake construction & refurbishment Health and Safety audits.
  • Produce risk assessments for various projects and works.
  • Produce CDM‑related documents (F10, CPP, RAMS, etc.).
  • Undertake other audits within care homes relating to fire safety, water safety and COSHH.
  • Monitor and sign off Legionella risk assessments and oversee remedial works.
  • Monitor and ensure completion of works arising from fire risk assessments.
  • Conduct annual asbestos inspections in homes/buildings with ACMs.
  • Support care homes in resolving operational H&S problems.
  • Provide additional H&S support to maintenance operatives.
  • Monitor training requirements of construction team employees.
  • Organise and monitor training for direct subcontractors.
Qualifications
  • NEBOSH – Occupational Health.
  • NEBOSH – Construction (desirable/working towards); some construction experience required.
  • Enhanced Adult/Enhanced Child DBS.
  • Good understanding of H&S legislation.
  • Asbestos awareness.
  • Legionella awareness.
  • Care home experience preferable.

  • Able to drive and hold a full UK driver’s licence.
  • Flexible, able to work under pressure.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willing to get hands‑on when required.
  • Understanding of dementia (training provided if needed).
