Health and Safety Advisor Holywell Heavy Civils Temp or Perm

Location: Holywell (5 Days on Site)
Salary: From GBP35,000
Contract Type: Temporary or Permanent
Project Duration: 2–year project

Summary

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join a dynamic civil engineering project based in Holywell. This role will focus on supporting and advising on all health and safety aspects across a range of heavy civil engineering activities including remediation, piling, groundworks, concrete slabs, demolition, and heavy civils. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies, promoting a safe working environment throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with site teams, subcontractors, and clients to identify risks, implement control measures, and drive continuous improvement in safety standards. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a significant 2–year project with a reputable contractor, either on a temporary or permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert health and safety advice and support across all site activities including remediation, piling, groundworks, concrete slabs, demolition, and heavy civils.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with health and safety legislation, company policies, and project–specific requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify hazards and ensure effective control measures are in place.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, producing clear reports and recommending corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with project teams and subcontractors to promote a positive safety culture and continuous improvement.
  • Support the development and delivery of health and safety training and inductions.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health and safety performance.
Required Skills
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices relevant to civil engineering and construction.
  • Experience in remediation, piling, groundworks, concrete slabs, demolition, and heavy civils.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments, site inspections, and safety audits.

Certifications & Standards
  • NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma (preferred)
  • SMSTS or equivalent site safety management qualification
  • CSCS card (appropriate level)
  • First Aid qualification (desirable)
