Job summary

A leading construction staffing firm is seeking a Regional Health and Safety Advisor for a 3-6 month contract in Yorkshire/North East. The role involves providing health and safety guidance, undertaking risk assessments, and working proactively with operational teams on major new-build projects. Candidates must have a NEBOSH construction certificate and relevant experience in the construction sector.

Qualifications

  • Minimum NEBOSH Construction/general certificate required.
  • Desired NEBOSH Diploma/NVQ L5 in OHAS.
  • Experience working as part of a SHE team is relevant.

Job description

Regional Health and Safety Advisor – 3‑6 month contract – Yorkshire/North East – £400 per day – major new‑build construction projects.

Responsibilities
  • Provide day‑to‑day health and safety guidance and advice on compliance with statutory requirements and company standards using Guidance and Observation visits.
  • Respond to requests for advice within the holder’s area of expertise, through discussion with the Health and Safety Manager and others where appropriate.
  • Undertake risk assessments relating to health and safety.
  • Work proactively with operational teams during the project lifecycle to ensure health and safety is considered at all stages and relevant control measures are identified.
  • Highlight areas where poor practice and/or significant risk have occurred.
  • Investigate incidents and produce detailed factual reports identifying root causes and recommendations for improvement.
  • Liaise with enforcing authorities as necessary.
  • Assist the SHE Manager in preparing, reviewing and updating policies and procedures relating to the management of SHE.
  • Work with senior managers and/or directors on the development and implementation of divisional level strategies for improvement.
  • Keep up to date with new legislation and best practices through regular reading of journals and relevant website/site visits.
  • Raise awareness on SHE and sustainability issues through toolbox talks and briefings, delivering training where necessary.
Qualifications
  • NEBOSH Construction/general certificate (minimum).
  • NEBOSH Diploma/NVQ L5 in OHAS (desired).
  • Relevant experience of working as part of a SHE team.
  • Providing proactive support to operational business units.
  • Up to date knowledge of UK construction legislation.
