Health and Safety Advisor

We Care!

That's why we need people like you who care about your colleagues and customers as well as our business and the environment. People who appreciate their role in helping others to be successful.

Are you passionate about creating a safe and secure working environment?

We are seeking a dedicated qualified Health and Safety Advisor to join our Anglian Water contract team. You will be working as part of the alliance to lead Health, Safety & Welfare strategy and ensure delivery is monitored, managed and assured.

The Role

We need your help to inspire and help our busy operational colleagues execute their work consistently, using best in class health and safety practices. We’ll leave you to decide how best to do this, although we know that you won’t be standing on the side-lines holding a clipboard and grimacing.

We’ll support and encourage your naturally inquisitive nature as you seek to understand the operational challenges your colleagues face on site. We’ll be looking for practical H&S solutions and helpful advice delivered in a style that motivates your audience. We’ll encourage you to create communications strategies which resonate and inspire from in-person conversation to video and podcasts.

Activities
  • Carrying out ABC tours (Attitude, Behaviours and Culture)
  • Execute comprehensive inspections for safety compliance and hazard identification.
  • Advise on and set safety objectives aligned with project goals.
  • Support thorough investigations and ensure compliance with corrective actions.
  • Assess external environments, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and implement safety initiatives; share best practices with colleagues.
  • Advise on and communicate new practices to ensure legislative compliance.
  • Actively encourage Safety Observations and Hazard Reporting.
Qualifications & Experience

We would love to hear from you if you can demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with stakeholders. You should have excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess and mitigate risks, along with the capability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a unified health and safety approach.

A minimum qualification of NEBOSH General Certification or an equivalent, such as an HNC in Construction, is required. Additionally, Tech IOSH Membership is essential. Prior experience in a health and safety role is necessary, preferably within utilities, water, or civil engineering projects. A solid understanding of health and safety legislation and regulations is also crucial for success in this role.

You must have at least two years of active advisory experience in health and safety. Construction experience, preferably within utilities, is required, and you should reside within the geographical area. As this is a field-based regional role, a full UK driving licence is necessary.
