A leading family-owned construction firm in the UK is seeking a Health and Safety Advisor. You will provide essential support in health and safety practices while working closely with operational teams. Candidates are required to have NEBOSH certification and at least two years of advisory experience in health and safety, preferably in utilities or civil engineering. The role involves conducting inspections, developing safety initiatives, and ensuring compliance with legislation. Competitive salary and various employee benefits are offered.
We need your help to inspire and help our busy operational colleagues execute their work consistently, using “best in class” health and safety practices. We’ll leave you to decide how best to do this, although we know that you won’t be standing on the side-lines holding a clipboard and grimacing.
We’ll support and encourage your naturally inquisitive nature as you seek to understand the operational challenges your colleagues face on site. We’ll be looking for practical H&S solutions and helpful advice delivered in a style that motivates your audience. We’ll encourage you to create communications strategies which resonate and inspire from in-person conversation to video and podcasts.
Here are just some of the activities you’ll be getting involved with :
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with stakeholders. You should have excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess and mitigate risks, along with the capability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a unified health and safety approach.
A minimum qualification of NEBOSH General Certification or an equivalent, such as an HNC in Construction, is required. Additionally, Tech IOSH Membership is essential. Prior experience in a health and safety role is necessary, preferably within utilities, water, or civil engineering projects. A solid understanding of health and safety legislation and regulations is also crucial for success in this role.
You must have at least two years of active advisory experience in health and safety. Construction experience, preferably within utilities, is required, and you should reside within the geographical area. As this is a field-based regional role, a full UK driving licence is necessary.
