About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Head Veterinary Nurse to join our dedicated team at Southview Veterinary Hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and inspire our nursing team, ensuring the highest standards of care for both our patients and clients. You will play a central role in shaping the future of our practice, providing leadership, guidance, and fostering a supportive environment for professional growth.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the day‑to‑day operations of the nursing team, ensuring excellent patient care, and supporting the development of our staff. Your leadership will help drive improvements across the practice, with a focus on both clinical excellence and a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

As the Head Veterinary Nurse, you will lead and mentor our team of veterinary nurses, setting a strong example for the level of care we provide to our patients and clients. You will manage staff training, performance appraisals, and development plans, ensuring that every member of the team has the opportunity to grow in their role.

You’ll also oversee the efficient running of the clinic, managing rotas, stock control, and ensuring that all equipment is well‑maintained and functional. As part of the senior leadership team, you will collaborate closely with practice management to implement improvements, drive initiatives, and maintain the high clinical and safety standards we are known for. While leading, you will continue to perform your own clinical nursing duties, reinforcing the standards you expect from your team.

Southview Veterinary Hospital, established in 2003, is a trusted provider of veterinary care for both small and large animals. Our team of six veterinarians, four nurses, and seven support staff are committed to delivering the highest level of care and providing a collaborative and positive work environment.

We offer specialized services in Cardiology, Canine Physiotherapy, Reproduction, and Hydrotherapy, with a dedicated hydrotherapy suite. Our hospital is proud to support several local charities, including PAWS and TNR initiatives.

Located in the scenic heart of Tipperary, our practice provides easy access to Cork, Limerick, and Waterford, with beautiful outdoor spaces right on our doorstep. The Blueway cycle track and River Suir offer a perfect balance to work life, providing ample opportunities for outdoor activities.
