Overview

An exceptional opportunity for an experienced Head Teacher ready to lead a large, inclusive and thriving Birmingham primary school. We are seeking an outstanding, values-driven Head Teacher to lead Alston Primary School into its next exciting chapter. This is a role for a proven leader — someone who has already made an impact as a Head Teacher and is now seeking a broader challenge within a dynamic, values-led Trust. If you are an experienced Head Teacher in a smaller or single-form-entry school and are ready to take the next step in your leadership journey, we would be delighted to hear from you.

About the School

Alston Primary is a large, three-form entry school with a thriving nursery, proudly serving a diverse and vibrant community. We are an inclusive and caring school where every child is celebrated for their unique talents and contributions. Our dedicated staff create a nurturing environment that inspires curiosity, creativity and achievement for all.

We are especially proud of our recently opened Resource Base for children with autism, developed in partnership with the Local Authority — strengthening our commitment to meeting every learner’s needs. In April 2025, Ofsted judged Alston Good in all areas, reflecting the strength, consistency and ambition of our provision.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic, visible and values-led leadership to ensure the highest standards of teaching, learning and pupil achievement.
  • Inspire and develop staff to deliver an ambitious, inclusive curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.
  • Build strong, positive partnerships with parents, governors and the wider community.
  • Drive improvement through high expectations, innovation and a relentless focus on excellence.
  • Model integrity, empathy and professional resilience in all aspects of school life.
Qualifications
  • Has a successful track record of headship and raising standards across a primary school.
  • Brings a deep understanding of inclusive education and the needs of diverse learners.
  • Is an effective communicator and collaborative leader with strong emotional intelligence.
  • Shares our belief that every child deserves to flourish academically, socially and personally.
In Return, We Offer
  • A forward-thinking Trust that values innovation, professional growth and collaboration.
  • A talented, dedicated staff team committed to making a difference every day.
  • Enthusiastic pupils who are eager to learn and thrive.
  • The opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of a vibrant, inclusive school community.
