Job summary

Staffordshire University Academy in Cannock seeks a Head of Year to lead and inspire the year group, raising aspirations and reducing barriers to learning. You will monitor attendance, track progress and work with families to support student achievement within a supportive team.

The role requires a strong classroom practitioner, effective communication with parents and staff, and a commitment to safeguarding and inclusion while developing form tutors and pastoral staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire the year group with a clear vision for success.
• Promote high expectations for behaviour, attendance, achievement and wellbeing.
• Track and improve attendance and intervene with students and families as needed.
• Monitor progress and identify groups needing targeted support.
• Oversee behaviour, rewards and praise to recognise progress.
• Evaluate pastoral strategies and identify priorities to improve outcomes.
• Support and coach form tutors and develop the tutor and pastoral teams.
• Engage with SEND, PP, HPA, MPA, LPA and EAL needs to ensure inclusive support.
• Communicate with parents/carers about progress and concerns.
• Lead safeguarding and ensure assemblies convey key messages consistently.
