Role Summary and Impact

The Head of WPP Media Solutions, North, is a senior leader responsible for spearheading the northern business for WPP Media Solutions. This pivotal role encompasses growth and solutions planning, with a core focus on embedding WPP Media Solutions seamlessly within Wavemaker North and EssenceMediacom North to drive significant growth and deliver innovative solutions. As a trusted leader, you will be instrumental in setting strategic direction for these functions, cultivating robust relationships with key agency stakeholders and clients, and ensuring the successful delivery of tailored solutions that address complex business challenges. You will act as a key representative for WPP Media Solutions in the North, driving collaboration and outstanding client outcomes.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate is a commercially focused, seasoned leader in growth, strategy and planning with a proven track record of:

  • Strategic Leadership: Setting strategic direction, inspiring high‑performing teams to continuously excel, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Commercial Acumen: Demonstrating strong commercial awareness and business acumen, with a history of driving revenue growth, managing financial performance, and translating client needs into measurable business outcomes through effective growth and solutions planning.
  • Agency & Client Integration: Expertise in embedding services and teams within complex agency structures (e.g., Wavemaker North, EssenceMediacom North), building strong relationships with senior agency and client stakeholders (CMOs, Heads of Media), and driving collaborative success through strategic growth and solutions planning.
  • Solution Development: Acting as a cross‑channel strategic advisor, leveraging technology and data to develop and deliver cutting‑edge solutions that match client needs and enhance outcomes.
  • Communication & Influence: Exceptional communication skills across all levels, capable of translating complex concepts to non‑technical audiences, and effectively influencing stakeholders to align on priorities and joint business objectives.
  • Problem Solving: A critical thinker with a solution‑focused mindset, capable of diplomatic issue resolution and proactively identifying opportunities for improved working across business functions.
