Job Description
Head of Wind Asset Management (UK) for a dynamic and highly successful international Renewable Energy company.
For their rapidly expanding team, they are looking for a Head of Wind Asset Management to provide oversight of their asset management service providers, ensuring the effective management and continual performance improvement of the existing and growing UK wind portfolio.
The Head of Wind Asset Management will be responsible for the management and reporting of the portfolio, ensuring best practice for health, safety, quality, and environmental (HSQE) performance, whilst enhancing the overall returns and value of each asset and complying with all applicable contractual agreements, lender terms and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will be a team player and keen to coach and develop less experienced members of the team.
Responsibilities
General management requirements
- Develop policies, processes, and procedures to ensure all relevant procedural/legislative and contract requirements are fulfilled.
- Maximise total return for each asset through the analysis of system efficiencies and identifying opportunities for improved performance.
- Establish a collaborative relationship with the asset management and O&M service providers with the aim of maximising the safe asset performance and operation.
- Provide technical expertise support to the Business Development in progressing the acquisition of development projects or operational assets.
Asset Management and Operations
- Provide oversight of the Asset Management and O&M service providers providing guidance, encouraging teamwork, and facilitating related professional work processes in order to achieve high performance standards.
- Review and manage all SPV requirements ensuring all SPVs contractual and legal obligations are met.
- Develop and drive forward the portfolio asset management and HSQE plans, ensuring that each operational asset has a site-specific improvement plan in place.
Performance monitoring and reporting
- Conduct regular performance reviews of the sites as well as analysis of potential optimisation projects/actions.
- Monitor and control all financial budgets.
- Manage monthly reviews of operational and financial KPIs, and identification of improvement opportunities.
- Support the Financial team with analysis of P&L variances, CF Forecasts and wind plant Budgets.
- Prepare shareholder and stakeholders reporting.
- Managing the portfolio from a commercial, financial and technical perspective; dealing and managing internal and external stakeholders including external parties.
- Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements.
Contract management
- Provide oversight of main contractors to ensure compliance with relevant obligations.
- Provide oversight of revenue management processes, ensuring compliance and proactive management of energy sale/renew processes to always ensure optimisation of prices.
- Monitor and influence all operations and maintenance activities for the assets.
- Maintain and grow good relations with all contract parties. Manage and co-ordinate potential contract modifications.
- Ensuring promote checking and invoice sign off.
- Providing clear recommendations on unbudgeted cost requirements.
- Own, organise and management asset/project/SPV documentation and filing management.
- Develop compliance register and calendar, manage and monitor compliance in all contracts and activities.
Skills and Qualifications
- Engineering Degree or similar with experience of financial management.
- 5-10 years development and/or assets/engineering management experience in wind energy in international and global environment. Experience with solar energy assets would be an advantage.
- Effective track record in successfully managing sites from remote location.
- A strong team player with the confidence to exercise judgement appropriately, engaging with colleagues at all levels of seniority.
- Experience of working for a financial investors or utility active in the renewable space internationally.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment interfacing with internal and external teams, with the ability to work efficiently and effectively under the pressure of tight deadlines.
- Organise workload and prioritise to maximum effect.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and adapt in a fast-paced start-up environment.
- Excellent attention to detail when checking information with an ability to recognise and question anomalies.
- Set high standards of performance for yourself and the broader Operations team.
- Driving license is essential given the requirement to attend site visits.
