Role overview

As Senior Transport Manager you will own the operation of our purely electric eHGV fleet and drive the Transport Department. You will balance parcel collections with trunking and haulage to maximise revenue, ensure compliance and safety, and support a rapidly changing business. You will lead a high‑performance team to help us reach our ambitious growth trajectory.

Responsibilities
  • Compliance & Legal Responsibility
    Hold a current valid Transport Manager CPC qualification to be designated the official Transport Manager on the Company’s Operator Licence.
    Manage continuous control over all transport activities to maintain the Company’s good repute and clear record with the Traffic Commissioner. Monitor and audit driver hours, working time directive and tachograph analysis, taking corrective action as necessary. Oversee a robust preventative maintenance schedule ensuring all vehicles are safe, road‑worthy and compliant with O‑Licence standards, including annual testing.
  • Operational Management & Efficiency
    Lead and develop the transport team, including line management of our transport manager and transport associate. Drive continuous operational efficiency through route optimisation, reducing empty mileage and maximising vehicle utilisation. Balance competing needs of our haulage and parcel businesses to ensure both are met within safe parameters. Ensure effective loading/unloading procedures in compliance with vehicle weight limits and load safety regulations. Manage all accident and incident investigations, implementing corrective actions to mitigate future risk and improve safety standards.
Requirements
  • Essential – Must hold a current valid and unrestricted National or International Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage.
  • A minimum of 10 years of demonstrable management experience within the transport and logistics industry.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced high‑growth business environment, balancing the need to innovate quickly against safety and compliance.
  • A proactive approach to compliance and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, comfortable dealing with both drivers and senior leadership.

  • Experience working with electric vehicles.
